Cover of The Unlikeable Demon Hunter in Kindle, mobile, and paperback format

Welcome to my new weekly series where I give you a glimpse of my thought process on various topics related to the writing of my novels.

Rule breaker, magic wielder, hot mess: meet our best chance at survival.

I very deliberately chose to start my MC, Nava, at a point that some would (and do) call “unlikeable.” For some, it’s because of her sex positivity, for others, it’s because she has a lot of maturing to do. Which she does.

There are a lot of wonderful series out there where the main character doesn’t change. Nave does. Immensely. Which meant I had to very carefully choose where I started her in order to allow this journey.

I’m very proud of the results and of Nava’s end point of growth.
